Cockatoo Island

I had a few days off work this week. I have been meaning to go to the Biennale Art Exhibit on Cockatoo Island. With a free afternoon in front of me I wondered to Darling harbour and took the ferry to the island. You can use your Opal card to travel on the ferry. On my return I took the ferry to Circular Quay.

It was a miserable day which gave the island a creepy feel about it. The island originally held re offended criminals and then turned into a shipping yard. You can now walk around the empty warehouses and tunnels on the island. There’s a camps site and places to get food and drink. The art exhibit was around the various building on the island and only happens once every two years. It was all based around technology and the future. Below are photos from the art work and on that dark day they have a very eerie feel. This is a place I would like to return in summer instead of battling the elements to walk around.
