I have been reading my little book on living the mindfulness life.
I have enforced a few changes into our home life to try and make it a little more calm.
A big one for me is social media and our phones we are always on them. Now when we get home we make a effort to have tea at the table and when we sit down to watch a show on the TV no phones. I personally love it cos when I do speak to MK then I get a focused response and not a grunt.
Also made a effort to pick a show and watch it together and I had to work on not watching mindless shows that don’t have any content. This mainly involves not watching reality TV. Even at work I have stopped listening to podcast while I work as I am focusing on being present at the task on hand. It does work I feel a lot more focused at work and I feel at home I’m more productive and really enjoy the TV show we choose to watch. The conversations with MK are no longer ones while looking at their mobile.
It is incredibly hard to break the habit of a life time and this is what its about. Your first thought in a morning is more then likely a negative thought… so trying to change that to a positive thought sounds easy but its not. I am enjoying the book and what I am learning.
I believe this is the right way for me to live. I am training myself to change the way I think to have a more positive and calmer approach to life. I am also finding a routine which does not cause me stress. Yes I do still get stressed but I will learn to manage it in a better / productive and not destructive way.
