Biggest Loser Update!

I did it…I managed to knock a KG off the scales. Total of 2.5KG. I could not feel better. I have more energy, more focus and don’t feel bloated after a meal.

This weekend we did go out with friends for Christmas drinks. I did resist beer and wine. I had a few proseccos and that was it. On the Sunday we also did a walk across the Harbour bridge and some lengths of the pool in North Sydney. This pool is worth a venture to the other side of the bridge. Tired from the night out it was pretty slow going in the pool. After drying off in the sun MK walked back over the bridge and I took the ferry. For me personal after a night out a month ago I would have been eating everything in sight trying to manage my hang over. It was a little step in showing myself I have changed my motivation by swimming away the cobwebs.

A blog coming this week on how I made my non eating calendar for $20. I also received a gift colander from my mum with Body Shop products behind each door. Can’t wait for the 1st December to hit!!!!

No Plans.

We listened to the weather forecast and cancelled our weekend of camping. We should never have listened to the weather as the rain held off and it was decent.

Our friends braved the forecast and it paid off hey had a great weekend down in Kiama. I was pretty bummed we stayed home and had no plans. I was trying to see the positive in the situation (it took me a while) but we did have a good weekend.

We just did simple tasks which we have been wanting to do. A BBQ was finally purchased for the balcony, we spent up vouchers received from friends and we visited two Christmas warehouses in Alexandria as it is nearly upon us.

The balcony is ready for summer. I wrote my last blog out on the balcony with my incense sticks burning and a cup of tea. It was a relaxing few hours. I think I’ll be spending more time out there. For Christmas this year we are having friends round for a BBQ instead for presents. I can’t wait to use it! I almost want to call the balcony my room. Also somewhere for me to watch my Netflix shows as a certain someone will not give Riverdale a chance. Quick side note we are addicted to Sinner on Netflix starring Jessica Biel.

Photo of my new office!

This weekend my sister and I are going to the spa at the Langham Hotel in the Rocks. We were lucky enough to receive a gift voucher. I shall let you know how we get on. Hopefully creating a homemade advent calendar and finding some Christmas bargains!!!!! Keep up with what I find on my Insta story.

Biggest Loser Update 3

Sorry for the late blog entry this week…work has gone up a notch it is our busy season and as that pays the bills it comes first.

Big news is I knocked off 1KG this week….so 1.5KG overall.

This week MK joined me on the mission to change our lifestyle which has made it easier. I did do more exercise this week making it to the pool twice and the gym once. I think the habit of not eating junk for our three main meals has become a habit now. Weetabix for breakie, salad for lunch, and a meat/fish with veggies on a night. The hardest part I have found is my emotional eating. If I am sad I want to give myself something to cheer myself up or if I do something well I want to instantly reward myself with a treat…The more I think about it this habit starts from when you are children with rewards from your parents or a lolly to cheer you up if you have had a fall. I have had a tough week overall and the temptation to reward myself with some kind of sugar to satisfy my sweet tooth has been very very very very hard. But i have finally found my willpower…only took 30 years!

We do have strawberries, light Greek yogurt with passion fruit to help the sugar/ snack craving. Next Saturday we are going out with friends and so begins the silly season with friends. I am interested to see how we do sticking to low calorie drinks like gin and diet tonic. We are both big beer / wine drinkers so it will be a different type of night out.

Also side note we tried going out for breakfast this morning and just ordering scrambled eggs with salmon….it was a mistake we just wanted to order everyone else breakfasts around us. I just think we will be popping in for takeaway coffee in the future. If you are in the Marrickville area for a amazing feed the Roastville is the place to go.

In other news Australia voted ….YES to marriage equality. So happy for the LGBTQ community. Now we just need the Australian parliament to make it official. Mad how they can flip visa rights over night yet takes a really long time to pass a law giving people a basic human right….

We drove into the city on Wednesday night to pick up some furniture we bought off Gumtree. The city was buzzing it was so good to drive up Oxford Street and King Street seeing the rainbow flag flying everywhere! The only sad thing to see is the St George Michael mural has been vandalized in the wake of the YES victory. I saw this on the artist Instagram. He explained the mural does not even have anything to do with the YES campaign and has been on display for over a year. It was a tribute to the property owner’s friend. It does sadden me that people would attack such a beautiful piece of art in our community. What I do love is that people have gone and amended the vandalism. It was a big week for Australia. Go check out @scottie.marsh  on Instagram to see what everyone did to improve the vandalized St George Michael mural…

A photo of the mural from a while back below.

Biggest Loser Update.

First week done! I did loose 1/2kg this week. I think I could have lost a lot more but the Melbourne Cup happened. Which meant one of my swimming days took a hit and I drank booze on a week day. It was my first MC day in the city and it was great… glad I joined in. Although I must give myself credit I did not eat the spread work put on I stuck to my salad…it was also like the best spread I have even seen at a work function! Also Wednesday stress took over and I ate a bag of crisps…these have been my bad moments.

I did how ever do my first weekend of eating healthy. On Sunday I resisted wine and crisps whilst I watched a movie with MK. I let him enjoy them I had a glass of water and celery sticks with the dip. I had coffee with a few girl friends and I had my lunch at home before I met them. Having lunch before hand made it a lot easier to have a coffee and resist buying a cake as well.
My realisation from the choices I made above was the world did not end and I didn’t pass out from starvation by resisting temptation.
It’s all in your head and you just have to fight it. Some other changes I made are one cup of tea a day any more I have green tea. Drinking water with every meal helps me make sure I am drinking water all day…I tend to forget when I am at home to keep up the water in take. At work I am checking the milk to make sure I use only the Fat Free Milk (it looks so weird but doesn’t taste to bad). I have a goal to exercise 3x a week so far I’ve done one so I have to get two more sessions in by Monday.

Overall I don’t feel like I did my best this week but I conquer a lot of demands so it gives me that push to nail next week and have a full week of clean eating!

Any more tips let me know!
No photos this week. Haven’t been out with the camera as it has been a crazy work week!

3 Years of Blogging & City2Surf

I have taken a step back from the blogging these past two months.

The break was mainly due to a trip back home to England after 3 years in Australia and a visit to my boyfriends home, Ireland. I just logged back on tonight. I find writing about all the stuff I get up to therapeutic. Not sure whether people enjoy the blog or not but now I think its more for me.

Well WordPress and I have been writing together for 3 years…I have blogged my trip around South East Asia and all the adventures and trips I have done in Australia.

Big changes happening in the personal life, moving in with my boyfriend, visa’s (whats new) and trying to get fit!

We have booked our Christmas holiday to Fiji and started hiking for our base camp hike  next year. Looking forward to those trips…I am sure there will be a few small ones in between with the trusty tent.

A few blogs to tackle about our trip home and moving..these will be after I have tackled the Ikea furniture in our living room. I have realized  I was not meant to be a Ikea customer as we have had a few issues putting everything together.

I also ran/ walked the City2Surf this past weekend to raise awareness and money for MS. Our family has had a personal connection with this disease it felt good to help raise some funds. If you would like to give to my donate page click on the link below…everything helps!

Rain, Rain Go Away…

The past three weeks in Sydney have been very wet. Being from England I wouldn’t think the rain would bother me… but it did. I found it hard to fill my weekends!!

There are a few activities to get you out the house in Sydney when the weather is not on your side…

Sky Zone – One Sunday we tried out the Sunday deal at Sky Zone; three hours of Jump for twenty bucks. Sky Zone is a trampolining and climbing venue. There are two arenas with trampolines covering the floor and all around the sides. In one area the staff held a dodge ball game. There was also a foam pit area where you can run and flip into a pool of foam. It is a incredible work out and I would be very impressed if you managed the full three hours. You do have to purchase the special jumping socks which are only two dollars and you can use again and again. It does get very hot in there but as you have three hours you can take a break by the fan area and cool off. They do have a small café in case you need to refuel. You can lock all your important bits into a lockers but I would recommend taking your phone for some fun Boomerang videos!

Burrow Bar / Wofies – My dad was in town and the weather did not improve on the Friday afternoon. I needed a bar that would not be full of happy hour lovers. Burrow Bar was perfect choice. It was busy, it had a good atmosphere but you could also have a good conversation. The bar is down a alley way opposite Wynyard station. After a few drinks we had dinner at Wolfies. Despite the rain you can still sit outside under cover and have a great view of the Opera House. This restaurant is perfect if you have guests. It provides a incredible view and a menu to serve all tastes

T2 – Yes!! I finally got around to watching Trainspotting. I checked out Dendy cinema in Newtown to watch Trainspotting 2. Incredible movie and lovely little cinema. Dendy also has a bar if you fancy a glass of wine with your film. We grabbed dinner before the movie at Thai Pothong across the street from the cinema. If you like Thai food you have to check it out. The place is huge but always busy. We booked so we did not have to wait in line in the rain. Check out there website here.

East to West

I have just moved into my new house and new area. I have moved from the beaches of the Eastern suburbs to the Inner West.

The two suburbs could not be more different. It is nice to be living in a house again with a garden but I am sure I will miss the beaches being just 10 mins away. Excited to see what I get up to this summer. Summer will be very different living near Newtown and having a boyfriend in Coffs…I expect a few weekends away up the coast on the cards.

I have  two new housemates. I am finally mingling with the locals as one is Australian! The other is English and just moved out so we have another one who has just moved into the house and has been in Sydney about 30 seconds. A lot of change but I guess this why we leave home as the same old just didn’t suit.

Its nice to meet people who have just moved to Australia. I met  a lad from Northern England on Saturday night in a bar and he was just so excited to talk to someone from home. He was also just full of excitement about starting his new adventure in Australia. He was listing all the places he wants to visit and asking me questions about the dreaded farm work. I think after the first 6 months into Australia you take living near a beach and having hot weather for granted. You take for granted all the amazing weekends up the coast, visiting Melbourne, drinks in the office on a Friday and how seeing the Sydney Opera House on your daily commute. It is only when you start talking to someone who has just landed look back on all the crazy nights and experiences you go through when living abroad and trying to start a new life. We are lucky to be out here and to have and experience all we do but we have also worked so hard and gone without a lot to stay and build a life out here in a foreign country.

After this weekend of lovely weather Id say Summer 2016/17 has begun…
